well its time i started using this blog for its designed purpose.
Originally my intention was to talk about current issues and discuss the idea of culture as it weaves thought our every facet of city living. (which it does)
so i have been busy posting photos on my other blog site (see stuckinstatic.blogspot.com)

Today i'm just getting back in the habit of posting here, and i swear that i will make a valiant effort to do more than just bitch and rant about things that piss me off, (see below posts), but rather the energy directed here will be to encourage discussion about culture, ideas, community, and the like.

cheers, here's hoping i remember the intention i'm setting out today for this site, haha

the pain that comes from wisdom

My sleep is all messed up, I should be deep in my slumber right now, but instead i'm eating soup and drinking tea (rooibos). I'm not complaining really as i slept most of the day away, except for a few minutes of sending emails and eating more soup.
WHY?
Well i hadn't really slept for the past two nights due to some annoying tooth pain, i knew that it was just my last wisdom tooth coming, but why does it have to make such an entrance. It was so sore this morning that Puala sent me to the dental clinic so that I could have it examined. Pretty much they said exactally what i knew they would, "we should take those out... ALL OF THEM" for no real reason other than, "they can be a real pain to brush" and "You don't really need them" I took the prescription with glee and the advice with a grain of salt. I have a hard time accepting the general direction that dentists and optomatrists tend to take with their patients which is the no alternative to the extreme approach.

I will of course have an x-ray taken of my mouth when it has healed and asses the situation at that point weather i need to have them removed or not. The good thing i guess is that because mine have all broken through the gums and are fully in they are not attached to the jaw bone and it will not be as painful as it is for most whom have their wisdoms removed before they are even exposed. It makes me quiver knowing that there are people that make money inflicting great amount of pain on others for the purpose of what exactally, granted there are a large number of people whom benafit from having them removed, but the inhumanity of it all is unbearable, and then folks like me whom are doing just fine, suffer the inadaquat generic advice of every dentist out there, "yes those can come out", of course they can come out, they're teeth, but so could my hair come out, and my eyes too, but we dont seem to be bothered by them staying in, so why take my teeth...AHHHHHH!!!!

I think i'll go take a T3 and have a nap before yoga in the morning

5 years ago I woke up in disbelief

Today, as you may have noticed in the popular media is yet again Sept 11.
9/11
The day America was brought to its humbled knees through a tragic act of violence.
In the papers today were memorials to lost Canadians and Americans alike, as well as walks of life from all over the planet. Culture is a barrier we see through, what we lost were humans, living breathing humans were destroyed on this day.

It seems like yesterday, it is so clear in my mind. I stumbled from bed at 6pm to catch the evening news before trotting off to my night shift job. I stared at the television in disbelief, such confusion rolled over me, was I still dreaming? Did I hear that right? What the fuck did she say?
Then like lightening it hit me, a tsunami of hysteria, I began to chuckle, slowly at first but then as the seconds past I became overwhelmed by laughter. Soon I fell to my knees, uncontrollably bursting at the seems.
Josef must have been awake or woke by the sound of me gasping for air, by the time I was able to clear the tears from my eyes I watched it unfold in him. A glazed look of shock, confusion, Am I still sleeping? Why is James rolling on the floor? What the fuck did she say?

I'm certain that the need to laugh at these things is both natural and necessary in some cases. For Myself, it must have seemed truly like a joke, a gag, some prank... This lady on the TV station wasn't showing any emotional difficulty with what she said was happening, so why would I, yet the impact of the images, planes into buildings... How on earth you even begin to respond to such despondency?

That was five years ago
now we hardly bat an eyelid at the news, Americans kill Canadians with friendly fire; "a fact of life" I heard one man say.
Canadians send 15 Tanks and 120 troops to Afghanistan, YET AGAIN.
I understand the need for a military, a strong one at that, but what is happening here is a trigger itch response to a problem that isn't ours, a solution that doesn't involve us, a war that has never been ours to fight.
This ideal of western civilization, is that what gives us the right to forcefully impose our values onto another nation, that we killed and raped and pillaged to get where we are today is grounds to stand on when we tell others they have no right to rape and pillage whom they want, then as a means of resolution we continue to rape and pillage them for raping and pillaging their neighbor?.... What the fuck?!
And is it so much better now that in the name of national defense we have the obligation to stand up for ourselves? Excuse me but there isn't anyone attacking us. The only ones we have to defend ourselves against is the USA, Where will they go when there isn't any oil left over seas and in south America? North of course!
To what degree will we bend over with a smile and say "please, Mr. President I prefer it dry!".
where are our scruples to stand up on our own two Canadian feet and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY!
5 years!
5 fucking years overseas, fighting and killing killing and raping, raping and pillaging! Would you go to war? Would you go right now to represent Canada in a country that doesn't want us there, would you fight for this cause; profit?
I'm sickened, 5 years later and its still all over the news, as though we need to remember in order to justify our actions in Afghanistan today and for the past 5 years, as though this crusade isn't just a march for oil.
But the oil isn't in Afghanistan James!
thats right, so it makes perfect sense to have a war there, to draw a divide between China and the worlds richest natural gas pipeline, to keep them out of Iraq, to keep the oil closer to America.....
I'm sick of it *blaw*

news headlines

Was up late (couldn't sleep) and decided to post some interesting news that would most likely go unnoticed
I wont go into depth but here are a few

Incase you care to learn alittle more about Canadian Culture and Heritage, then you should follow the Harp Seal hunt debate
the hunt is set to begin

We’ll start in Kenya, where 80M$ of Cocaine was seized in 2004 Dec, and has yet to be destroyed.
The 1.1 metric tons of the drug received an “11th” hour appeal” to not be destroyed by Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecutions.
….apparently it needs to be tested
… all 900 packages of it.

I think they want to be sure its all really cocaine, for the records… you know, they’d have to accidentally throw out any white flour or sugar that they don’t have to.

You can go here to read more
Why is everyone in Kenya so perky?

In other news Randy Quaid is Suing the producers of Brokeback mt. for underrepresenting the film as a “low budget” production…. Apparently they weren’t able to afford the cute fluffer boy Randy wanted to have on set… you know, just in case

He’s suing for 10M$
GAY!!

Lastly S Korea has Nominated their Second ever female PM, the first was rejected. Anyways It’s a short article, but I especially like that the past PM was forced to set down because he was playing golf when we should have been working… on a National Holiday!
What an Amazing thing… I think they call it Accountability!

Truly revolutionary

Long live the Unity of Latin America.

Hugo Chavez; President of Venezuela, and his people survived and regained power over the worlds first Media Coup.
Venezuela, the worlds third largest petroleum producers, with a population of over 25 million, 80% of which live in poverty is a leading example of what the free world is all about.

On April 11, 2002 the Chavez government was overthrown by the media and a few military generals that were mislead to believe that Chavez was not acting in the interest of the people and that his so called democratic government was a disguised dictatorship.
In his three years as President, Hugo did what no other Venezuelan president had ever cared to do in the past. He campaigned the people, the 80% that had never cared to vote and were completely apathetic towards politics as whole. By educating those below the poverty line he managed to instill the basic rights and freedoms that ANY people were to live by.
His victory into government was a landslide, finally a man that could have empathy for his people. Unfortunately he was opposed by the upper class from the start, as well as the United States and the Bush Administration.
No surprise there, being that Chavez had plans to replace the operating team and management of the state owned/operated oil companies. That meant all the oil would be under Chavez’s control. This wouldn’t have been a problem if he followed suit as all previous US fearing presidents.

When it was announced what Chavez was planning for the future of the oil in Venezuela, which in full detail was to redistribute the wealth properly to all citizens in the country instead just those 20% upper class that were living so comfortably off oil revenue at the time. When this was announced an amazing plan began to unfold.

First the director of the CTV in the country was flown along with the CNN director to Washington DC to discuss with the Bush Administration what was to be done with Chavez.
The media in Venezuela is controlled by the upper class, this combined with their fear of loss for their wealth is what sparked the first ever media coup.

I have said it already, I am convinced that the way to build a new and better world is not capitalism. Capitalism leads us straight to hell.

Without getting into detail of what transpired, over the course of the four day coup, I would like to touch on some main points about the film that documented the whole thing.

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

1) The documentary was originally being filmed to demonstrate what the new driving force behind the Venezuelan people named Hugo Chavez was all about.
2) Because the film grew had stared their job 7 months prior the coup, the film takes you through a truly revolutionary journey, with along the entire time; before, during, and after.
3) Despite all the media and foreign influences that were behind the coup, it only took the people of Venezuela 3 days to restore order to their constitution and retrieve Chavez from captivity.
4) Because of the control that the media truly has over today’s available perceptions, I strongly recommend seeing this extraordinary documentary with an open mind, and dropping all preconceived notions about Hugo Chavez and his government.

Take the time to see this, please, we as a people could stand to learn a thing or two from great leadership

I hereby accuse the North American empire of being the biggest menace to our planet.

elect change

I'm all for our new government, no i didn't vote PC, but still, one has to embrace change. I'm happy that the pot has been stirred, and its been a long time coming too. Our long haul of Liberal Terrorism has been exterminated (at least temporarilly). So that now a new evil has the opportunity to arrise.
Though I am an advocate for change in the house I believe the Liberals are in for a in-house gangbang like never before, the NDP now has a vested interest to appear to be siding with the PC. Two things happen here, they (NDP) emerge as the "new" Liberals so that come the next federal election they have an opportunity to take some seats from the acutal Liberals from those who refuse to support King Harper.
And the reason they emger so well in the house is due to their teaming up efforts against the Liberals to pass bills with the PC's, if done correctly it will assume them mound of support come next election.
There is always the chance that though that the PC's really fuck up their image by siding with the NDP, and allowing the Liberals to play the roll of, "See, you see now what happens when were not in power?, the House becomes a playground for amatures" kinda stanse. This is possible as the Liberals will not back down easily in the house.
Lastly there is the chance that the PC's form a sick but effective allince in the House with the Liberals by creating bills that they would be dumb to reject... this would be a wise move for the PC's but unfortunately would be the workings of forming a two party House.... Very Animal Farm esk.
Which would leave our third parties and "other"'s left blinking dumbly as they are played like pawns in the game of big global business.

...I'd love to speak about what might happen to our relations with the states but i'd rather play online chess, its safer that way

left wing; right on!

Well if premier Ralph Klein never ceases to surprise the Ka-Gee-Burrs right out of me.
For a right wing conservative he sure makes some brave stabs at his own party.

Klein said while he views Harper as a "bright, articulate individual, perhaps he's seen as too much on the right."

Its beautiful, a Politician that dosen't know how to lie, his honesty has gotten him in more muck than anyone. And rightfully so he remainds Premier of Alberta. His forward thinking non-diplomatic approach is heart warming. Klein is x-catle farmer who knows the value of clearing the air of bullshit (politically speaking of course) and i would go one further to say that his brute honesty may appeal to the voting after all.

Besides at the end of the day it comes down to how much of a Loonie Harper really is, as much as it hurts to say, Please lord let there be yet ANOTHER minority government... oh and dont forget about the ever impeeding popularity of the green party..... right now a party with no bagage is looking pretty damn good. :D
